VOLUNTEER PROGRAM IN COSTA RICA - FAQ

Can I participate in the Volunteer program if I still possess no Spanish knowledge?

Participants must count with a basic Spanish knowledge before starting the program, so that they can communicate effectively with colleagues about fundamental issues. The importance of the Spanish knowledge varies according to the different working places and their requirements. Anyway, we recommend taking a Spanish course before starting the Volunteer program to refresh or learn basic skills.

Why should I write my CV and letter of intention in Spanish?

This is a good way for practicing and reviewing your Spanish while we get to see your language level and your host organization finds out how you write in Spanish. Besides, the translation of your application papers might delay the application process a little bit.

How long does the application process last?

We set 8 weeks, starting from the moment you register and the pre-payment reaches us. Anyway, we can already confirm your post after 1-4 weeks. This time is for us to find the right placement for you. We want to assure that your profile and requirements fit those of the organization.

Is the Volunteer program guaranteed as long as I have applied?

Your Volunteer program is guaranteed when you get our confirmation. In case certain expectations are not fulfil, we will inform you and find a solution together. During the whole application process we will be in contact to keep you informed about the progress of it. If after the 8 week term we were not able to find a placement for you we will discuss for alternative areas. Of course, you will get your pre-payment back if the application is unsuccessful.

Can I take my Spanish course and do my Volunteer program at the same time?

This is possible if you already have a basic level of Spanish. Your language course will have to be coordinated with your working hours on the placement.

How do I find Accommodation placements?

We can gladly provide an accommodation fitting your needs. In Costa Rica the most advisable are host families since you will get in touch with the usual customs of locals and improve your Spanish in a fast manner.

Can I contact my host organization before travelling?

The first contact with the guest's firm should always take place in presence of your tutor. Previously, we may inform you of the contact data of your guest's organization only in certain exceptional cases.
