Which should be my Spanish level?
Spanish knowledge is not compelling but will be of great help if you possess at least basic knowledge of the Spanish language. This will make it easier to communicate with your host family, especially during lessons. You can take an Intensive Spanish language course before starting the program.
What if my host family speaks Catalan at home?
All families that have decided to participate in this program are open, intercultural and friendly. Even if the family members may usually speak Catalan, they will always speak Spanish to you. In this way you may even learn a few words in Catalan!
Is there a time limit for the program?
You can participate between 1 to 6 months in the Teach Abroad program.
Should I have previous teaching experience to participate in the Teach Abroad program?
Teaching experience is definitively an advantage for this program, but never a compelling requirement. The most important qualities to participate in this program are flexibility, tolerance, enthusiasm and the willingness to have a rewarding experience.
How should I prepare the language lessons for my host family?
After your arrival you will participate in a Workshop in Barcelona in which you will be given tips and possibilities to prepare each lessons. You should always keep in mind that lessons are organized according to the different age groups of the family members. The most important aspect as a teacher is that you gain your students' enthusiasm bout learning.
Can I contact my host family before travelling?
It would be advisable to contact your host family after receiving their corresponding information, so that you can get to know each other beforehand.
